Questions and answers

Is this a court-approved system?

No. Courts and solicitors decide for themselves what weight to give any record. What we offer is an orderly, dated record that users cannot edit or delete, which is easier to follow than screenshots. Do not rely on us for a promise about how a court will treat it.

Does the other parent have to use it?

Yes, for the shared parts to work. You invite them from the Co-parent tab; they set their own password and choose their own plan. If they will not join, you can still use the calendar, journal and information bank for your own records, but messaging needs both of you.

What is the difference between the plans?

Essential covers messages, calendar, calls, expenses, the information bank and exports. Plus adds children profiles, weekly patterns, the journal, check-in notes, the wording helper and a document vault. Complete adds receipts, date-range records, a private calendar link for family and a bigger vault. See the pricing page.

Can I change plan later?

Yes, at any time from your billing page. A new monthly payment starts and the old one is cancelled. Professionals are free either way.

How does it work for professionals?

Registering and using the portal is free for professionals. You are connected to a case when a client adds you or you invite them, and access opens straight away. Your clients pay for their own accounts. See For professionals.

Can I buy online and start straight away?

Yes. Choose a plan on the pricing page, pay by card through Stripe, confirm your email with a six-digit code and choose your password. Your account is ready in a couple of minutes.

Why do we each pay?

Because each parent has their own account, and neither should depend on the other to keep theirs running. It also means one of you cannot cancel the other’s access.

Can I see what the other parent has paid, or their journal?

No. Billing is private to each person, and the journal is private to its author.

Who can see my messages?

You and the other parent. If you have added a professional, they can read the case record and their own thread with you. In limited circumstances our administrators can access stored content, for example to deal with a safeguarding concern, a legal obligation or a technical fault. Every such access is logged. Our privacy notice explains this in full.

What if my solicitor already uses OurChildrens for another client?

Enter the same email address they signed up with. The new case appears in their existing list straight away, at no cost to either of you.

Can messages be deleted?

Not by users. If there is a genuine reason, such as content that should never have been posted, contact us and we will consider it.

Does the app record calls?

No. The call log keeps details only: who, when and for how long. If you record a call yourself, make sure everyone on it has agreed.

How do I cancel?

Use “Manage payment or cancel” on the Plan & billing page. You keep access until the end of the month you have paid for.

Is it safe if there has been abuse in the relationship?

Please read our safety page. The app is not suitable for every situation, and nothing replaces specialist advice.
